Registered IBS-ROeS 2021 Attendees may take advantage of the full programs of these two simultaneous partner meetings at no additional cost.
The IBS-ROeS Conference 2021 provides a platform for an exchange regarding statistical methods in all applications of Biometrics,
including Medicine, Biology, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Forestry, Veterinary Medicine, Ecology, Epidemiology, and Genetics, among others.
It is the venue where Swiss and Austrian biometricians / biostatisticians meet to share information, ideas and opinions.
Concrete topics:
Biostatistical Issues Around Covid, Causal Inference, Clustered Data, Diagnostic Tests,
Drug Development, Epidemiology, High-Dimensional Data,
Machine Learning and AI in Health (incl. Imaging Data and Computational Semantics),
Meta-Analysis and Systematic Reviews, Modeling Aspects of a Pandemic,
Multiple Comparisons, Nonparametric Methods, Observational Data,
Registry Data, Regression Modeling, Time-to-Event Analysis, Trial and Survey Methodology,
as well as
Advising, Teaching, Educating, and Consulting - and Free Contributions.
Recent events have made it clear that our field is much more central to the well-being of humankind than
many people would have previously thought.
Our 2021 conference theme "Data, Evidence, and Insights" highlights the special and important role played by biometricians
(statisticians and biostatisticians)
when making sense of life sciences data in order to provide real, robust, and authoritative evidence which can support decision making.
Communicating this central role has always been an important challenge, ever since the establishment of statistics as its own discipline.
It could never be taken for granted that the good statistical practices which we consider self-evident, based on the scientific progress made in our field, are always given full consideration by others.
This becomes evident in regular intervals, in particular during times where the buzzwords of the day are mistaken as an alternative way to analyze data, just without having to follow some well-grounded practices of statistics.
In some sense, the 2021 ROeS meeting will therefore be a natural continuation of the discussions at the 2019 ROeS meeting
which featured the theme "From Controlled Trials to Big Data and Back" and the bridge between exploratory and confirmatory analyses.
As ROeS was established in 1961, the conference will also offer the possibility to celebrate the 60th (diamond) founding anniversary which will be celebrated during the Diamond Dinner.
